Where I stayed
The alarm went off at 5am to make sure that we were ready to get the taxi coming at 6am as our flight left JFK airport at 9am.
Traffic wasn't a problem and we were at JFK by 7am with bags checked in ready to go. Six hours later we arrived in San Francisco, then a relatively easy journey into San Fran compared with the taxi ride into New York!
After booking into the hotel we marvelled at the view from our room and Jeff got an electric shock from a plug socket (again!! This happened once before on our honeymoon!) After discussions with the manager the hotel gave us a free night's accomodation and free breakfast for two days, then we headed out!
We walked down Polk Street and had the best food ever.............we had missed breakfast because of the early taxi to the airport and then missed lunch due to being on the plane so we were starving! Fantastic crepes for us and eggs on toast for the kids and the best coffee ever......in proper cups!!
We then walked down to the Piers, experienced the very touristy Cannery area, Fisherman's Warf and Pier 39. However, the kids absolutely loved seeing the Californian sea lions and stood watching them for a long time.
After wandering to take in the views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz we caught a taxi back to the hotel ready for an early start in the morning.
