Woke up at 8am, and opened the curtain to beautiful sun-shine. Wandered off into the town centre for a wander...saw the place where Captain Cook first came ashore (and proceeded to kill several Maori, but that's not what he's remembered for!). Saw a few other statues, then headed to the beach to have some lunch. Chilled on the beach, and even stripped off my top to make the most of the rays...come on tan! Had a nice relaxing read, then managed to fall asleep in the sun...woke about an hour later, refreshed and feeling damm alive! Wandered slowly back to the hostel, had some food then jumped in front of the TV for a film. Watched some of the tennis, then headed for an internet stint...bummed around for awhile catching up with emails, then headed back for more TV and an early night. A really nice relaxing day, and great to slow down after travelling so quickly around NZ.
