As we fly across the most visually boring country in the world by air, Australia, what better time to write the first instalment of our travel blog than right now!

Having finally left NZ we are on our way to Bangkok.

Current air temp above Aussie: -81 degC, current Bangkok air temp: 34 degC. I am not sure which way we would rather have a beer, frozen solid or pommy warm. Our preference will become evident in the coming months.... (My Thai Singha beer on the flight actually was frozen solid!).

The inflight entertainment wasn't bad, tho Liz was disappointed she didn't see a kangaroo. There were no babies, no turbulence and no terrorists. What more could you ask for?! No mater what way you look at it though 12 hours is a long time to be spending on your butt doing nothing.

The real purpose to this blog instalment is to say a big thanks for all your warm farewells! We really appreciate you guys being in behind us and we have felt like royalty over the past few weeks as food, presents and attention have been thrown at us from all directions. This enthusiasm might have been motivated by the joy of us vacating the country for a couple of years, but either way thanks!

We are thinking of you all.

Jonny and Liz
