Last night as we headed back to the hotel, the sky was clear and we could make out the shape of the volcano in the distance. Occasionally, there would be a glow at the top, as the volcano is still active.

Waking up this morning, we at last had a great view of the volcano, which is covered in snow. Took a number of photos, stopped in the town, before hitting the road. Our destination is Puerto Varas for 1 night, which is about 300km south. Itīs motorway most of the way, plus lots of tolls, and do the journey in about 2-3 hours. We were going to head to the pacific coast, but didnīt bother.

Our hotel in Puerto Varas, the Gran Reserva, was the only hotel we didnīt choose ourselves. A travel agent booked it for us, as itīs a close starting point for tomorrows trip back to Argentina. It was ok, nothing special.

Puerto Varas is a German influenced town, and near the plaza was the Oktoberfest, with people dancing in funny costumes, and large quantities of beer being consumed.
