Checked out of the Wilson hotel just after 10. The hotel was a bit basic, right in the center of Salta. Salta at night looked a bit grubby, but now the sun is shining, surrounded by mountains, the place looks a lot better.

Before we start the drive to Tilcara, we head for the cable car which goes up a mountain overlooking the city. The views are great up there. We share the cable car with a former prisoner of war (falklands), but had praise for the Welsh.

Leaving Salta, we head north for our trip to Tilcara. We ended up on the windy road, which was great, as it took us through some great scenery, lots of forests. After a couple of hours we reach Jujury (or choo chooy) another big city. Although hungry, Jon decided to head on (lizz was a sleep by now).

The final road to Tilcara was reasonably easy, climbing quite high. When we reached Tilcara, it initially looked a dusty forlorn small place, and wondered what we let ourselves in for. We eventually found our hotel (The Rincon De Fuego) which was superb. The room was huge, very rustic looking. The setting was stunning with mountains all around. The town was mainly Indian descent. Watched Liar Liar, went out for a meal, then to bed.
