We were woken this morning by the rooster. The cat was curled up on Felicity's bed  and the dogs bounded towards as we wandered over to the main house for breakfast. Genevieve was happy that the swans were still floating on the pond and that they hadn't been eaten by the foxes. Felicity has been given the job of feeding the dogs and I am looking after the chickens while Wendy and Oliver have dashed over to West Sussex for Bubbles birthday celebrations.

Yesterday we visited Dickens World in Chathan as it was raining and this was an inside attraction. We went on the Great Expectations boat ride, saw part of an Oliver Twist play and experienced the Peggotty's Boathouse 4D cinema. It was ok however more suited to smaller children. The afternoon improved after returning home and Lizzie hooked the girls up on the fantastic zip wire (flying fox). We finally had to drag the girls off to start dinner. We have been spoiled with Oliver organising all our meals for us. Tonight was fresh sole from the market however Simon had to dig up the potatoes from the garden. I have not laughed so much in a long time. Firstly he had to search the internet to see what potatoes looked like. By the way I was no better. Then we headed out to the garden to find them. We were greeted with three vegetable beds and proceeded to dig up parsnips and carrots before we finally found the potatoes - which Simon put the garden fork through on the first dig. I did capture part of this on video. Dinner was delicious and Lizzie made a yummy dessert.

Today we drove off to historic Leeds castle. Simon and Felicity headed for the classic cars exhibition whilst Genevieve and I watched the falconry show and visited the exotic bird aviary where we saw a NZ kea. We explored the castle and learnt about its history over the last 900 years. Wendy and I picked raspberries on our return and we sat down to a delicious roast chicken dinner. It was great to have the time to natter away while the girls watched a movie with George and Freddie.
