Day 3 - A spectacular day. We started off with a very windy walk along the lakeshore. There were white cap waves getting blown up out there that were a foot high. Once we moved away from the lake we had a steep climb up to Campamento Italiano where we got great views over to the glaciers on Paine Grande.

We set up tent, we decided to camp a way from the crowds and out of the trees a bit. I was crossing my fingers that my Sierra Designs Omega tent with all the rocks piled on the corners would not blow away! It did well.

After a spot of lunch in camp where we spotted a Chimango we headed off up Valley Frances. This was one of those days to die for, every hiker should hike this valley once in their lives (on a good day :-) )! It was so windy some of the waterfalls coming off the mountain never made the valley floor, they would just get blown back up in the air!

There were great views back down the valley to the white caps on Lago Nordenskjol, of Los Cuernos and over to Cerro Paine Grande. We made it up the valley about 20 minutes passed Campamento Britanico where we stood in an amphitheatre with mountain rock walls all around us! We could have gone further to a place where I believe you can get views back over to Las Torres but we were done for the day.

We had squash soup and a more solid mash this time! It was a windy night and the tent buckled plenty.
