Day 2: Saturday 30th May:

We decided to take a coach tour of San Diego ending in a visit to Tijuana in Mexico.

What a tour it was. I do not enjoy coach tours. Normally I have to dope myself with travel sickness tablets to get through but on this occasion, sat at the front of the coach, I thoroughly enjoyed a whole days trip which included Bilboa Park (being prepared for the Rock and Roll Marathon on Sunday 31st May); Coronado Hotel (previously used for filming Marilyn Monroe in Some like it Hot!); the south california region of the San Andreas fault ( Building continues of housing on the hill despite the risk of an earthquake); a view of the Pacific (many sea lions); an hours harbour tour (this included a view of the aircraft carrier Medway) and a trip across the border of Mexico to Tijuana - we all easily picked up an additional Beer & Country point!!!!!!

The trips driver and guide was a lady called Brandy. What fun she was cracking jokes (apparently golfers at the Coronado Golf Course have to wear 2 pairs of socks - in case they get a hole in one!! boom!!! boom!!!) - and providing detailed knowledge about the places we visited. Brandy told us she has 6 children and is expecting her 2nd grandchild. Her mother and Grandmother are still alive. What a family!!!

We ended the day with a meal at "Mona Lisa"! ; India Street, Little Italy. An Italian restaurant owned by the uncle of Nino, a fellow traveller Andrea (my wife) and I met in Berlin earlier this year.Nino's uncle Stephano said our first beer was paid for, on the house, by Nino. Thanks Nino!!!
