After getting to the coach station, I have tried to buy a ticket for the trip to Baguio on the express bus but it it all sold out, it is a 5hr trip but now have to settle for the slower bus with stops at over 8hrs, it is half the price at £5.00 but dont relish the thought of the time as it will get in around 8pm now.

Passing out of Manila we head North and it soon turns to countryside, lakes volcanoes and rice fields, it really is a breathe of fresh air after a smoggy city.

The journey is broken up into 3 sections stopping at small services, and a video in the coach of a film not yet released on dvd?

Most people on board are travelling home from college or work and do this journey ever week to gain degree's or money in the city.

Getting into Baguio in the dark it is cool and fresh and about 3500 feet up in the mountains, it is what they call the summer resort where people come to escape the heat and hustle of the city, it is also the food bowl of the country where much produce is grown.

It reminds me of Cameron Highlands in Malaysia and has all the same importance to the country, it is a welcome break from the intense heat of Manila.

I book into Casa Vallejo and it is very English in design and the dinner that night is wonderful, I was beginning to dis- pare of Philippina cooking and it hadn't really inspired me, but a good host and cook and im enjoying some home cooked pork, (Lechon) or crispy pigs trotters.

From what I can see the town is quiet and relaxed surrounded by forest's and mountains, I should enjoy the time here, and my host has introduced me to a local guide a nice guy called DUDES.

He will try to arrange some trips, but i think I will do it independently for now, I have managed so far, but always ready to take advice from local knowledge.
