Today we got up early and went to a little town called Sausalita, and then we went to a big crooked hill which is called the Crookedest Street. We caught the ferry to Alcatraz which was great because it was such a clear day, we had great views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge! It's unbelievable how close it is. Arriving on the island is really eery. We wandered around for a while and then went to the cell block where we did our audio tour. It was so good, the audio tour is done by ex-prisoners and ex-prison guards, and there are loads of sounds effects so it's really realistic. You get to go into the cells, and even the solitary confinement cells, the dining room and everything. We even saw the hole for the escape which inspired Escape from Alcatraz.
For the afternoon we went back to San Francisco and walked around Pier 39, Fishermans Wharf and the general marina area. We caught the cable car to Union Square where it was very nice and festive! We met Jess' friend for dinner in China Town and then caught the very back to Larkspur. Seeing San Francisco by night from the water was so pretty!
