Today we started our drive to Alamo Lake through the Sonora Desert. It was a really long drive, we saw the chocolate mountains and lots of cacti and general open areas. We stopped at the weirdest place for lunch - literally in the middle of the desert, a place called the VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) club. Basically, this is a place where all people who were in foreign wars hang out and get drunk and dance to Western music. There was a massive tank at the entrance, and the place was all outside with trailers with Confederate (Red Neck) flags! We asked to use their picnic tables and they said we could as long as we didn't make a mess! We arrived at the campsite at Lake Alamo, it was literally in the middle of nowhere, but after setting up our tents and having dinner, we still managed to have the best night! 5 of us just stayed up playing games, listening to my ipod and drinking. The sky was so clear and we could see all of the constellations! I was very much watching out for rattlesnakes as we had been warned they were hanging around!
