Kuala Lumpur is very different to everywhere weve been so far on this trip - has a more modern and western feel with MASSIVE shopping Malls and McDonalds' on every corner, not forgetting the awesome Petronas Towers.

We arrived yesterday and expored the area around our hotel for a while (chinatown - selling all knock-off clothes/handbags etc - so far this trip Ive bought fake ray bans for 1 pound, fake Calvin Klein Boxers for 50p each and fake Ontisuka Tiger shoes for about a tenner... I'm a knock-off Nigel!) We then went up the Kuala Lumpur Menara tower and saw some good views, before chilling at the bottom listening to an awful 'cultural experience' show which included traditional dancing and a malaysian band singing Abba! It was so cringe-worthily bad we had to leave after a song or two.

We spent the night at 'The Reggae Bar', which as pretty cool. Most of the guys left after a while leaving me with about 8 girls drinking pink cocktails... sex on the beach - man points!

This morning, after attemting to get Em up for a good hour (!!!) we decided to get a bus and go to the Batu Caves, which is am impressive, huge cave full of bats, a hindu temple and lots and lots of monkeys that attack you for food! - We later found out from some of the girls in our group that they also went to the caves about an hour after us and saw Usher there! After the bus journey back we went to Buckit Bintang on the monorail where there were some cool and HUGE shopping malls right next to each other - there was a topshop there however Em resisted as we are now used to clothes costing about 2 pounds so 15 pounds for a top now seems extortionate!

After this we headed to the Petronas Towers to meet our group and go up to the skyview bridge- only 1000 people can go in it per day and you have to queue at 7:30am to get tickets, luckily three people from our group went at this time and got 5 tickets each so that we could all go up! Ace views and such a cool building - especially when lit up at night, better than any I have seen before. We ate in the 8 storey mall attached to its base, we had really nice food for just 1 pound each (even though we were in a mall in the main attraction in the capital city and were sitting next to expensive shops including Gucci, Miu Miu, Cartier, Harrods etc).

Amazing food again here, lots of Indian food, aswell as Chinese and Malaysian. Malayisa has a high Muslim population which was clear a second ago on the walk home - We walked through the red light district and Em was wearing a t shirt with a shirt over it and shorts - despite this she was wearing much less than the prostitutes!

KL is an ace city but we both prefer Bangkok, even if the others in our group dont tend to agree - Thailand locals were much friendlier than the locals here and Bangkok had a more laid back, liberal atmosphere which we prefered.

Off to Melaka in the morning, then Singapore , before we say bye to SE Asia for Australia!
