Sydney - It was a short flight to Sydney from Melbourne.  I was met at the airport by my Dad's cousin Geoff who along with his wife Maureen, were kindly putting me up for the night.  We went to the Blue Mountains near Sydney for a few hours.  The trees in the area give out a oily mist which tints the air with a blue colour, hence the name.

It was then to a hotel for the rest of the stay in Sydney.  New Years Eve was spent in central Sydney watching the fireworks around the harbour bridge and opera house.  A friend of a friend worked in one of the office buildings near the bridge so we watched the fireworks from there, rather than being crammed in on the ground.

The rest of the stay was sight seeing around Sydney, seeing the famous sights such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.

We also managed to see a little bit of the final cricket test.  I didn't have tickets but my Dads business partner could only stay until 11.30 on the third day.  So we met him outside and got the tickets, but unlike Melbourne they were not letting people re-enter the ground.  We tried to use the tickets, and pretended to the door staff that we had got conned by touts, and they eventually let us in.  Got to see Warne and McGraths last test, and as usual England getting beat again.
