Sometimes when we travel we come across a city that has no real reason to spend a lot of time there, but something about the place just clicks and you spend more time then you had originally planned to. Bondowoso was one of those places. Usually used as a transition point for those coming or going to the Ijen Plateau, we planned to spend a night there and ended up spending two. We found a clean, good value hotel with a great little restaurant half a block away. But, best of all, we spent a day in your average, mid-sized Indonesian town, full of friendly people and a window into the daily life of the Indonesians who call this place home.
