Our flight down to Bali from Singapore was a quick two and a half hours.  Unfortunately, we didn't leave Singapore until after dark and so we missed what must certainly be a beautiful flight over the blue waters and several of the islands of Indonesia.  In addition, our plane arrived into Singapore with dozens of Styrofoam coolers filled with some sort of seafood.  How did we know?  Well, before leaving, we watched them unload the coolers and, once on the plane, the nose didn't lie.  At any rate, the smell blew out of the plane someplace high above the ocean after about an hour.

We chose to start our trip in Sanur as we wanted to avoid the more crowded beaches along the southeastern coast of Bali and Sanur fit the bill perfectly.  It was a relaxed little beach town with some creature comforts, but without the pumping night clubs and massive party scene.  Yeah, maybe we are getting older.

We have found the prices here to be extremly affordable.  A basic room with private bathroom in a nice setting can easily be found for US $15 to $20.  (You could also really go on the cheap and basic, sharing a bathroom for $5 to 10.  Spend $75 to $100 a night and you are pretty much living like royalty.)  A meal for two that won't leave you hungry is going to run you about $5.  A cold beer is $1.  And, for some reason, we've suddenly become addicted to Mentos (The Freshmaker) which we drop 30 cents a roll on from time to time.

Anyway, we hope you enjoy this small set of pictures.  We promise more are on the way!

Until next time,
Jon and Liz
