Where I stayed

Kas (pronounced Kahsh) was our first stop on the Mediterranean coast and it became a relaxing place to spend 3 nights.  The town has a small population of only about 10,000.  Money from tourism and European investments in vacation homes have certainly turned a once small fishing village into a town that sports some pretty nice shops and a great selection of bars and restaurants.

The drive here was beautiful as a good portion of it skirted along the rocky sea coast.  Speaking of skirting along the rocky coast...  Much of the highway lacked guardrails.  No big deal in most cases, but our bus driver seemed to fancy himself as the final lap leader in the Turkish Grand Prix.  He was making the turns so quickly and so sharply that I was afraid that the laws of physics were bound to eventually work against us and we would be doing a little swimming in the blue sea below.  Worse yet, he only had 1 good eye and I became a little (no, a lot) nervous when he took one hand off the wheel to clean his sunglasses as we rounded a hairpin turn.  We just put our faith in the fact that he probably makes this run 2 or 3 times a day.  It sure brought new meaning to the old saying, "He could probably do this with his eyes closed."  At any rate, he got us there and we have the pictures to prove it.

Enjoy!
