Where I stayed
We decided to return from New Orleans to Florida, and back to Tarpon Springs. We booked into the same place we had stayed in previously, luckily there was room for us to stay one more night.
On the way back from we decided to break up the journey with a stop at a motel somewhere in Tallahasee after we had explored the beaches around Pensacola. We headed for the Gulf Breeze area, it was amazing, a over 8 mile stretch of WHITE sand, so bright we could not believe it. We stopped at several points to search for shells, marvel at the white sand and take in the warm sunshine while just walking along the beach or while sat with a beer at a beach side bar. It was amazing that areas of this beach were empty and we were the only people there at times. We made a sign in the sand while trying not to get stung by jellyfish that were washing up onto shore and had a very relaxing day at a beautiful part of the Gulf of Mexico coast.
We headed to Tallahasee to find a motel, and at around 8pm we saw a Super 8, and as they had been excellent so far we decided to stop in another one. It was again a good place to stop, basic clean room and a good breakfast. We were joined by 2 coach loads of young black offenders shortly after we checked in. They all had tee-shirts on that read 'No drugs, no guns, no violence' and they were on their way to Miami for some kind of conference with other organisations that also help young offenders.
We looked at each other, as some of them were running around the complex, while being told to get in their rooms, and thought that at some point that night we would be getting up to the sound of an alarm or fire engine as they would have set the motel on fire or they had shot each other.
We had no reason to worry as the night went without a hitch and they all seemed like great guys as we chatted to few of them at breakfast, they all wanted to put what they had done behind them.
We arrived back in Tarpon Springs at around 1pm and looked around the town some more before returning to our favourite B&B where we had been invited to have supper. It was amazing, an olive, parmasen, and olive oil dip for starter, chicken main and then strawberry shortcake for dessert. It all was fantastic, especially the dessert that we were trying for the first time. We will be making it when we return home. It is basically a large scone/sponge (this one had chocolate chips in it) cake cut open and filled with strawberries and cream. Yum Yum.
Following another excellent stay (if only too short) with Dick and Marie we then headed to Jacksonville for one night before another early morning flight to NEW YORK CITY!!
