It's the three of us now; Tore, Ron and me.
We bought a Budapest card, that is supposed to cover all transits and get us discounts on sites. Our hotel is right on the Danube, on the Pest side of the river. We look out at the palace and citadel, which is lit up at night. Our card did get us into the museum at the palace. The Mathias Cathedral is being restored, so we could only see the outside. It is magnificent. Also, the fishermans' bascillica is right across from the cathedral. It reminds me of the fairytales, like Repunzel and such.
Lots of walking and lots to see.
Saturday we checked out the Parliament buildings. These are the most extraordinary so far. Then went shopping, but the market hall closed early on Saturday and will be closed Sunday.
Sunday took us up to the Citadel. Ron and I took the tram around the river and out to the hoods. We came back as far as the Gellert Hotel and climbed to the citadel. the cave church was on the way up. Wow.
After the citadel we took a boat ride around the Margaret Island. Tore had gone walking on his own and found that Margaret Island has a small zoo.
