Where I stayed
Next we got up close and personal with some herons, who were waiting for a local elderly man to feed them. Later, we saw him in action. Four or five herons gather at dinner time, waiting. We did a lot of walking.
Second day, after business was complete, we headed back. This time we got a 24 hr ticket for the canal cruise - hop on, hop off. This saved some walking and we were able to see a lot of the town.
Third day, one of our group returned home early, one caught a train to Brussels and two of us continued to use our canal cruise tickets
The second one, the Old Church (oldest church in Amsterdam) was too expensive so we just photoed the outside. This is located in the red light district - half naked women in store fronts behind us as I took my pics.
We left here and went to the New Church. It was the most interesting, although it had been turned into a Protestant church. The floor was made up of headstones. Thousands of people had been buried inside this church, although all the remains had been removed during a renovation in the 19th century.
We got back on the boat just before our ticket ran out and rode around the canals for some time. Then went shopping, stopped for pancakes and hot chocolate and headed back.
Time to pack up - leaving for home in the morning.
