So, as you know from the previous blogs, we don't have much luck with viewpoints. Victoria Peak, Hong Kong- couldn't see bugger all. Sydney Skytower- raining and foggy. Christ the Redeemer Statue, Rio- hallelujah!!! Quite apt really...

Yep that's right, after hiring a driver, climbing the final few steps up to the top, we were rewarded with an almost perfect 360 degree view of Rio, and the surrounding countryside. Hooray!!! Third time lucky and all that.

After an obligatory photo on Copacabana beach, we headed back to the hotel for an afternoon of doing absolutely nothing by the rather beautiful hotel pool. All too soon though, it was time for showers and a change. Of course it wouldn't be the same if Dad or Alex didn't do something, and on this occasion, they both managed to stick their heads around the corner at the exact moment a bride was having her wedding shots taken in the corridor. Well done boys!

After a final drink, we journeyed back to the airport, and after a pleasant stay in the small lounge- alas no bubbles- it was time to board our final plane, and the long flight home!!!! Which to be fair passed rather quickly, as after a few more drinks, a good meal, and a bit of banter with the crew, we all managed to pass out for most of it. Who says you can't sleep on a plane! All it takes is to travel enough to the point of exhaustion, and you'll be asleep in no time!

Arrivals at Heathrow was a joy as always! How can it be that we have traveled around the world, to cities large and small, and yet at Heathrow we faced the longest, most poorly organised scrum at passport control out of all of them. Honestly, anyone would think you didn't want us back x

P.S. There will be a farewell blog to follow, but at the moment I have absolutely no idea how to sum this amazing experience up. So, I'm afraid you will all have to wait. Oh, and don't forget the gag reel...

Ken on

Very well done Jo. We really enjoyed your commentary from around the world. My brother, whose name I can't remember, showed up his juvenile side, but then he is so much younger than me, and lives under a rock somewhere in the very north of the empire. Hope tosee you when we visit England later in the year.
Ken
