We left Christchurch about 10 o'clock and saw some earthquake damage as we were leaving.

  We had a coffee at The Greta valley pub. Nice. Then went out to the coast to Motunau. a small fishing village beside an offshore island ( Motu ).
  
 Back on the main north road we next called in at Cheviot for lunch, and ate it further up the road at St. Anne's lagoon. We met up with Lindsay and Donna here before heading off to Kaikoura. 

 At Goose Bay we had a look at some seals by the roadside.

At Kaikoura we did some shopping at the north end,buying a jersey and some shirts at the Wild South shop. then just north of Kaikoura we stopped in at Donegal house and had a Guinness and Kilkenny. The Donegal house is a nice place to break the journey being not far off the main road.
