My 9:30 train to Prague arrived at 4:20. I had a 6-person car to myself and enjoyed the most of the ride. I did not enjoy the conductor that needed 22 euros from me because we were going through Slovakia - a country in which my railpass was not valid. Ugh. Another train mistake - I should have gone back to Vienna then up to Prague.

Prague, like Budapest, was on a different currency. I hurried to my hostel, stopping only for cash. My check in was odd - I was given two room numbers. Up the stairs I went, through the keypad locked door and to the rooms. I was on an end and the reason for 2 room numbers was that you could choose a 4-bed room or go through it into a 6-bed room. In the first room, I met a college student from Californina. I Did not remember HIS name, but remembered the conversation we had about my not wanting a coed room again. My reservation DID say female dorm. Anyway, he seemed nice enough, so I went into the second, completely empty room.

The rain seemed to go around us, so I headed out to explore. I went down through the construction in the streets past the Opera house and to the river. Across the way I saw the castle upon the hill. I spared my feet and decided to save that for the next day. Instead I roamed around the main square snapping photos. Prague was a pretty city with way too many souvenir shops - all with the same crap. Since most everything was closed, I ate some smoked ham from a street vendor followed by ice cream from a chocolate shop. I ended my day snapping dusk photos of the castle across the river.
