We arrived in San Fran in no other way better than via the golden gate bridge itself! It was truly amazing crossing over the bridge that is an icon of the city. Yesterday was clear as anything so the bridge was amazing. Did you know if you gathered all the steal beams which make up the bridge you could wrap them round the earth FIVE times!!!!!
Our hotel is surprisingly lovely…I say surprisingly because for some reason Natalie and I were convinced we were turning upto "Great Uncle Ben and Bridgets fine décor hotel" haha but it’s the complete opposite quite trendy, comfortable, I need a ladder to get into my bed the matress is so high and the hotel itself is run by a very chic lady! I like it a lot!! I’ve noticed In San Fan you cannot get just a ham sandwich for lunch, we all know I’m a sandwich snob with my M&S divaness but really in San Fran so far it’s all weird and wonderful fillings like big meaty slices of bread ……it doesn’t do it for me I’m afraid! Lunch aside it was time to purchase our standard city open top bus pass and get on board!!
The bus tour took us all around the city and up and down the steep hills that overlook the city. Again we went over the bridge on the bus and then returned over the bridge. Therefore in one day we crossed the bridge 3times…what top tourists!! We’ve also noticed in San Fran it’s a little chilly so when you see hundreds of tourists all wandering around with San Fran jumpers and jackets on they obviously haven’t read their tourist books! We decided to get off the bus early and head to Chinatown for dinner with the kids
By the time we had dinner it was too late to catch the bus home. Having made our mistakes before about map reading you would think we would learn. Did we read the map? no. Arno being a typical man has a satnav strapped in his brain and led the momo/schmidts out of Chinatown and into the San Fran city to take us home to our hotel. Bearing in mind every street in San Francisco is either a massive hill or a downwards slope…there’s not really any in between. After about an hour and a half walking up and down slopes, feeling the burn in our calves, working our hair in the wind, working our biceps on pushing prams, feeling our Primark shoes fall apart with every step we took we finally made it to……….10 minutes round from Chinatown. Yes we left Chinatown at around 6oclock and returned 10minutes from Chinatown an hour and a half later. We had done a U shape and returned back to the start so this proves not all men’s satnavs work in every city! I actually couldn’t believe it was this a ploy by the boot camp Schmidt to work my calves harder….are my Beyoncé thighs not firm enough this holiday? After a group discussion/row we decided to carry on walking yes up and down some more mega mega steep hills and eventually we made it home 3hours after leaving dinner. I now they say a brisk walk after dinner does the body good but I must have literally burned my full chowmein in those three hours of steady walking. Fair to say team momo Schmidt were dead on their legs last night! Oh and we found out the neighbourhoods we walked through for 3hours well some of them can be quite bad at night………jeeeezo!
