We left Bowen with three weeks to get to Sydney and sell the car. We decided to give ourselves a week to get to Sydney allowing us enough time to get straight before getting our flight.

First stop was a night in Rockhampton. We booked into a cheap hotel and enjoyed a steak and a few drinks that evening. We had a lovely evening and it was wonderful not having to put the tent up. Rockhampton was nice (what we saw of it) - it is the beef capital of Australia hence the reasoning for having a steak.

After that we had a long drive to Brisbane. Infact we decided to break it up and stayed a night in Hervy Bay. Here we stayed in another campsite, this time on the beach. Hervy Bay is famous for the humpback whales who hang out there after giving birth each year. We missed them by 3 days!!

From Hervy Bay we went straight to Australia Zoo which is not far outside Brisbane. A great day out although very expensive - a bit like a theme park really. I got to have a cuddle with a very heavy koala and we enjoyed the shows in the crocoseum. It was by far the busiest place we have visited since our arrival in Australia - no doubt due to Steve Urwins tragic death.

We spent two days in brisbane and couldn't wait to leave. We got our jabs for the trip home done and left as quick as possible. That is when it began to rain...........
