It has been a while since we updated this so here goes.........
We left Cairns and enjoyed a couple of days in the highlands before arriving in Ayr. The Tablelands (highlands) are beautiful with pockets of rainforests around with stunning waterfalls. We promised ourselves we would go back there once we had finished our stint in Ayr.
So upon arrival at the hotel we were informed the price was double that we had been quoted and that John would work the following day and I would not. This led to me being very unhappy and slightly worried about the finances we were suppossed to be earning. The room was actually quite nice and Ayr itself was ok - the job however...........
John arrived back after his first day, legs red raw in scratchs. When I asked him how was it? His reply was the worst days work he had ever done. From this comment I believed we must be moving on. Oh no, John insisted I had to do at least a day to experience the pain. (what a lovely boyfriend I have!!!)
I lasted 3 days - John managed 5. It was hell, I cannot stress how much pain you are in all day bent over, not being able to stand up. When you can stand up you don't think you are going to make it as your back is so stiff. You may be thinking that we sound like a pair of moaners and that we should have stayed longer - well I think we did well as most people only seemed to make it until lunch on their first day!!
So after a week in Ayr we left with what was not a bad pay check. We were working 10-11 hours a day and it was hourly paid. So we had enough money to go back up to Cairns and do the stuff we came to Australia for.
