The trip to Broome was quite long and took us the best part of two days. We stayed overnight in a rest area on the side of the road. Day one we travelled as far as possible which then enabled us to arrive in Broome at a reasonable time of day.

Broome was quite busy and again it took a few attempts at finding a caravan park which wasn't full. So about 2pm we were setting our tent up in Roebuck Bay with views of the ocean. Setting the tent up at this time of day after being in the car for 5 hours and not having had a shower was quite a trauma and I for one was happy to get it over and done with. (not that I was really all that much help!!)

After cleaning ourselves up we had a look around Broome and figured out how long we were going to stay. We had planned on staying three nights, but after a fun fishing trip off the jetty on the third night we decided to stay another day.

Broome was probably smaller than we anticipated, but a nice place all the same. We went to the crocodile farm where we got to hold a baby saltwater croc. We visited all the different pearl shops (didn't buy anything!) and we spent a lazy day on the beach - oh, and of course we went fishing. It was on the jetty that we bumped into a couple we worked with in Adelaide, Billy and Sue. They have been working in Broome so we met up with them on our last night to guess what?? do more fishing!!!

The best part of leaving somewhere is planning where you are going next - the next leg of the journey was going to be another long trek taking us through some beatiful scenery.
