We have eventually embarked on the next leg of our journey after a slight delay. I (john) was ill again, (I may be cursed) with a fever and bad stomach. After five days I felt well enough for us to get on the bus heading south. Our route would take us all the way down the coastal highway from Sydney to Melbourne stopping for three nights each at Narooma and Merimbula. Originally Batemans Bay was on the list but we had to scrub that off due to our late start. A total of about 17 hours on the bus, and it looks such a small distance on the map!
We arrived in Narooma YHA at about half ten at night to be met by Wendy and Chris, the owners and friendliest people you are likely to meet. Our room was en-suite with T.V, nothing like roughing it as a traveller! We emerged the next morning to meet chris who asked if we wanted to go on an adventure. So off we went with another couple in his mini bus. First stop was an old gold mine - which we discovered was not open to the public without a tour guide. This didn't stop Chris, he just climbed the fence, helping us all over. The next stop was an aboriginal culture centre followed by a visit to a vineyard where we enjoyed the wine tasting. This was a bargain trip, all for the mere cost of $5. In the afternoon we spent time exploring the town, the weather was overcast which made perfect walking weather.
The second day we spent sunbathing and our final day was spent avoiding leaches climbing a mountain in the surrounding rainforest, with a group from the hostel. (still ache now)

Next stop - Merimbula
