From Greymouth we were heading to Nelson taking the longer scenic way as we did not want to miss the picturesque costal highway. The weather was again really bad, the wind was very strong and we could feel it as our car was bit moving from side to side. It was not point to take lot of pictures as the camera was straightway wet.

I would love to see this road, this beauty when sunny as it could be unforgettable experience, but in this weather not really.

We left the snowy mountains behind and we were drivining to the Punakaiki pancake rocks.

We did a few stops to take pictures of massive waves which were and were massively splashing against the big rocks.

When we stopped at Punakaiki the wind was very strong and it was quite challenging to take photos. It was very nice view from the pancakes rock. We spent there a while enjoying the view and were heading to seal colony near Westport. Rain stopped and finally sun came out when we arrived. We took a short walk and after approx. 20 minutes we saw loads of baby seals. On the way back to the car we had a stroll on the beautiful sandy beach with dark grey sands.

We got again into the car and drove to Nelson – the city where the ring for the movie lord of the rings was crafted.

As usual it was raining for the rest of the day and all the lookouts were covered by fog or clouds.
