we had to leave the hotel at 10 am so we grabbed a quick breakfast, shot few last pick of the franz josef glacier that was not covered by clouds this time, i packet our 4 backpack for the gazillionth time and off we were on the road again.

we left the glacier valley behind and we were heading further north along the west coast towards Greymouth where we would stay for one night. without any special plans we had only one planned stop and the rest would only be as it comes. fortunately new zealand is just made for people like us because it has signs posted everywhere so you don't really need a map or anything you just need to drive and stop at a sign you like: a lake here, a scenic reserve there and lookout everywhere :)

the weather was great, well not great but it wasn't raining at least (that much) so we were making stop everywhere to shoot some photos. there were some beautiful lakes and rivers with blue glacier water. we were just regretting not being here during the fishing season in summer. well, summer here is in winter months December, January and February and this was quite a change of temperature for us coming from the heat of Bali to the kiwi winter.

in the afternoon we got to our main destination that was the Hokitika Gorge which is famous for it's blue water. The colour of the water ranges from grey, brown, green, deep blue or turquoise so we were hoping it will not by the first two options because of the heavy rains but we were again in luck and the gorge welcomed us with it stunning turquoise colour.
