One of my biggest dreams was to come very close the tigers and to be able to pet them and Chiang Mai is well known for the tiger kingdom - a place where they have tigers of all ages and you can do exactly that.

I have to say that I do not like animals in cages however every single year there are less and less tigers in the wild, they face the extinction and the experience you can get in the tiger kingdom is completely fantastic.

Early in the morning we went to fulfil my dream. It is possible to choose from 4 categories of tigers and also you can pay for a photographer so you spent the time fully concentrating on the tigers. I choose small, smallest and big tigers and in each cage I had a photographer. My husband was waiting for me at the restaurant and sipping beer while I was enjoying myself with the big cats.

We arrived among the first people and our timing was perfect as everything went very smoothly. At beginning keepers wanted me to start with the big ones, however I was so scared as even they are in cages they are wild animals so after a bit of persuasion I was able to start with the small ones. Oh my god, I was able to put my head on them and pet them, it was cool. I enjoyed every single second, but I did have a big respect for these animals. I cannot even describe what I was feeling, because it was so exciting and I know that I will do this again because the experience is worth every single penny. Some tigers were sleeping but some of were very active and were running and playing around.

After the tiger kingdom we went to the zoo as we found out they have pandas and koalas there and it was one of my dreams to see these animals, as well.

Chiang Mai zoo is a bit different to other zoo as I have been to, you can drive around in a car or on a motorbike or you can pay for the bus and the bus will drop off at one of the stop or you can choose the sky train to see zoo from the sky view. When we arrived we went to macaws enclosure and they were very nervous, we looked in the pond and from the water was coming out a big python and it looked like he ate something recently - maybe a fish. After that we went to see the pandas - one of them was sleeping and the other was having breakfast. She was eating and eating and was not disturbed at all by the people around.  After pandas we went for a walk to the bird's aviary and on the way I had an opportunity to feed a jaguar with meat.

The bird aviary was one of the best aviaries I have ever seen so far. Lot of birds, large space, amazing set up. We sat down and we were enjoying ourselves. After taking few pictures we were heading to see the koalas. We did not take any pictures unfortunately as the light was very bad and they were behind the glass. So we went to the reptiles and we were very disappointed how the animals were kept and how the set up were neglected - very big difference to other animals.
