I rolled into Calais a little after 6.  One thing I am learning about Maine is that the temperature drops fast at night, at least in June.  The ride into Calais was uneventful though the road (US-1) did start to deteriorate quite a bit.  I was surprised at the lack of traffic.  Living in Detroit, I just assumed that a border crossing would be busy but not in Calais!

I had a reservation at the International Motel (http://www.theinternationalmotel.com/) which was located right on the Saint Croix river. I checked in and got a room on the river side of the motel, then asked for a recommendation on a place to eat.  The clerk told I could pick from one of two places, a restaurant right next door or another further along in town.

After unloading and unpacking in the room, I checked the place next door and saw that it was jammed full so I decided to ride further into town to the other restaurant.  When I got there, it was more of a bar with a small kitchen but it was local and homey so I didn't much care.  I sat at the bar and, being in Maine, I asked the bartender if the lobster rolls were any good.  She told me that was their specialty so I ordered one with fries.

I had never had a lobster roll before...it was tasty.  Basically lobster salad (like chicken salad) on a hot dog bun.  Not all that exciting but I was tired and didn't much care.  I rode back to the motel, took some pictures of the river and crashed for the night.  Total miles today, including my detour to the Harley dealership:  261.  Total miles: 1,142.
