7 hours sleep and the view hours sightseeing in Wellington were enough for me. so i left the place pretty fast in the morning. on my drive there were no more beautiful beaches or rainforest but a lot of hills with brown grass and sheep or cattle on it. quite a contrast to the south island. probably that is why i did not really like it. so i listened to a audio book der 3. Zwilling von Ken Follet. Thanks Lourdes and Vintsche. Was a good idea!
As I drove the old vine street to Napier I expected to see quite some vinyards but it seemed as if they were converted to sheep farms...By the way it was raining! Thats the reason why I headed to Napier and not to the Tongariro National Park (will be there on Sunday). Trying to get a bed in Napier I was told that the art deco festival is going on in town ( will go there in a few Mins) thus problem to find a bed. Finally got one in a hostel - it seems as if all Germans round 20 are in New Zealand...After checking in I headed off to the Cape Kidnappers. First I wanted to walk there but as the beach was still floded I decided to take a tour. Really cool sitting on a trailer of a tractor and beeing driven (or shaked) along the beach. Got quite wet because of the water the rain had fortunately stopped and the sun was shining again ;-) After arriving at the end of the beach I ran up the hill quite fast to be the first seeing and enjoying the bird colony on top. I have no idea how many birds there are but at least 1000. A lot of them were feeding their young ones. And they seemed to want to talk all at the same time ;-) How they were navigating and landing was really cool. The view around the cliffs and out to the see was really cool especially as dusk was setting in.
So in the end it turned out to be a great day again although it started not very nice.
I even wrote the entry on time ;-)
