We arrived in Washington DC at 1300 and spent the afternoon looking at the monuments. There are plenty of them, all to the glory of the great and the good of the last 200 years.
Washington is always associated with power and money. It came as a surprise to see so much poverty there. A very poor looking area started just a few blocks from the White House and seemed to extend as far as one could see.
