(Ithaca NY, Saturday, January 20, 2007)
-Dr D and I had a lovely drive down from Rochester to Ithaca, taking some back roads and enjoying the rustic scenery all the way. Danny Collins has been telling me about Ithaca, his pals from college days and the hand-made books they produce at their collective called Compassionately Stoneground Books. Our performance will be on the second floor of a downtown bar, the Chanticleer, and Dr Goodman and I will perform a capella as part of a bill featuring several of the usual suspects and, of course, Mr. Danny C himself. They've booked us into a local budget motel and we look forward to a good night's sleep before heading back to Susquehanna at noon Sunday with a stop in Binghamton-not far away-where I'll make a Joint Production
of my radio show with Dr. B of WHRW-FM (the one I've already posted as #122
with Entry #13
in this Travelogue).
We have a great time with the kids in Ithaca-there's some wild poetry, plenty of heavy drinking by the combatants, and lots of excited conversation, plus a couple of pretty fair diner meals at the venerable State Diner. Everybody is happy in the end, and we can't wait until they bring us back to Ithaca again.-New OrleansFebruary 19, 2007
