(Philadelphia, Saturday, January 6, 2007)-Saturday afternoon I caught the train to Philadelphia, hopped on the subway and got off across the street from Johnny Brenda's, an unassuming-looking corner bar that has an extremely fine performance stage and dancing space on the second floor powered by a superb sound system. What a terrific place to play!

The great Philadelphia tenor saxophonist, flautist & poet Elliott Levin arranged the evening for me and brought an impromptu ensemble with Frosty, his brother Tom, and a smoking rhythm section to back me up. We made some beautiful music up in that place as the opening act for the three bands to follow, and I was very happy to be there.

I had to get back to NYC so I could make Dave Marsh's radio show on Sirius Satellite Radio at 10:00 am Sunday morning, so I was back on the train before midnight. It actually cost me the price of a round-trip ticket to play with these cats, but it was worth every red cent. Thanks, Elliott!
