My wife Susan and I got out Yellow Fever Vaccinations a few weeks ago with no real issues.  Last week I caught one of the worst colds I have ever had and visited the doctor for the first time in quite a few years as a result.Packing is interesting becasue we need to haul our motorcycle gear, along with our helmets and be prepared for steamy jungle riding AND 15,000+ foot mountains.   We plan or remaining in Cuzco at 11,000 feet for a few days to acclimatize to the altitude.
Our riding gear for Arizona was not suitable for high altitude cold and it was a little difficult to find thermal underwear/socks and hand warming pouches when the weather in Phoenix is 103 degrees.  A couple of trips to the sporting goods store and we think we should have what we need.
I have 2 busy work days and then we head out of Phoenix to Houston, then down to Lima - overnight then hop to La Paz, Bolivia to collect the motorcycles and support vehicle.
The reality of what we are about to undertake is starting to sink in - we just learned that helicopter rescue is impossible at the higher altitudes, which may make us add some emergency medical supplies.
I have added some new video and camera gear to my usual pack, so I might need to change my backpack to help out.Still researching whether to pick up school supplies for donations,  in the US or when we arrive in La Paz.
