We were met with the usual humid 26 degrees at KL but it rained heavily through the day. With fourteen hours to kill at KL we both wanted to get out to see the city and do some shopping. After being mobbed at the arrival gates by the dodgy taxi drivers we thought it would be best to book one of the official KL Airport taxis (which also happen to be insured which is a bonus!). I can't believe how cheap the taxis are here. It is roughly 80km from the airport to KL city and took close to 45 minutes but the fare was only 70RM (about 15 AUD). This even included two toll gates. I doubt the drivers make much money at all after tolls, petrol, etc. We asked the driver to drop us off at the central markets so we could brush up on our haggling skills. It is knock-off central... rolex watches, D&G clothes, etc and dirt cheap. I picked up a few 'authentic' tshirts for about 4 AUD each. I didn't trust the Mylasian street food so I stuck to good ol' Maccas and KFC to minimise the risk of a flight to Adelaide spent in the loo. A large KFC meal costs about 2.50 AUD :) I'm surprised the Malaysians aren't fatter! We picked a bad day to visit KL city as there was some sort of muslim meeting with tens of thousands of people causing gridlocks. Our shady taxi driver with his patchwork 1970's toyota wasn't too happy about it. He was a bit crazy and told us all about how bad the Malaysian king was, at least 10 times during the trip. At least he's passionate about something!

Well Neill is asleep at the boarding gates so I'd better go and check his bags haven't walked :)

Not long til we are back in little Adelaide again!
