Hello again,

The expedition is now officially over :-(

After coming back from phase 3 in Miruru I spent 1 more day at Borneo Paradise chilling in the pool as always, before we set off for the closing ceremony. This was quite a formal affair, it was in a trendy restaurant, there were lots of important people there and I had to endure a 7 course fish dinner!! I hate fish and the prawns nearly killed me. Oh and then it was mushrooms in syrup for desert...what the f*^k! This country may be beautiful in almost every way, but it sure doesnt know how to make deserts!

To end the night, those that had survived the meal were treated to a powerpoint presentation of all the work we've done out here. This was amazing to watch, its easy to forget just how much we have achieved. So now I have it on CD to be sent home for people to see :-)

There was also a special presentation in tribute to Toby, a collection of pictures reminding us all of what we had lost. Ive never seen a room of 150 people cry before.

Then it was off to bed, as in the morning we were heading off to a top secret location for our pirate themed leaving party. Nobody was really impressed with the muppet who suggested we dress up as pirates.

So after a 2 hour coach ride we were there, standing along a desolate shoreline, sand between our toes with nothing or nobody to be seen for as far as the eye could see, just sand sea and palm trees. It promised to be an awesome night, even if alcohol was still banned from the expedition...but how could they really punish us now?

As the night went on, more and more people were suspiciously appearing drunk, cheap Borneo rum had found its way into the party...but we are piates afterall. The night was excellent, a great way to end the most memorable 3 months of my life.
