From Cuidad Bolivar, myself and David from Barcelona took an overnight bus to Merida via Barinas...about 20 hours in total. The view from Barinas to Merida was really amazing, heading up windy roads into the Andes.

Merida has the highest and longest cable car in the world but unfortunetly the bloomin thing is closed this week for maintenance. So myself and David took a trip in a jeep with some others to a small pueblo called Los Nevados with is up in the Sierra Nevada in the Andes. The trip up in the jeep was crazy...the roads are so windy and steep...you need a 4 wheel drive to get up. But the views are just amazing. We got to Las Nevados 4 hours later and stayed there for the night in a posada which was pretty cool. Then yesterday we headed from there to Puerto de la Cruz on mules which took 4 hours. Then from there we trekked back down to Merdia as the cable car wasnt running. We got slightly lost along the way and ran out of water but we made it down ok, 6 hours later. So Im pretty wrecked today...got a sore backside and john wayne bandy legs, so im just gonna spend the day in Merida checking out the town and then getting an overnight bus to Coro on the coast tonight.
