Wednesday morning we went to the
Istanbul airport to catch a flight to
Izmir followed by a 60 km taxi ride to the port town of
Kusadasi. After we checked into the hotel we walked down to the port to buy ferry tickets to go to
Samos the following day. Then we hired a guide to take us to the House of the Virgin Mary. This is where Mary is believed to have spent the last few years of her life. Then we went to the archaelogical site of the ancient city of
Ephesus. This has some of the best preserved ruins we saw during our entire trip. Unfortunately my camera battery died shortly into our tour but you can see better pictures anyway at
http://www.ephesus.us. Later we explored the town of
Kusadasi and ate dinner at a little cafe down by the port.
