The old town part of Charleston is quite well preserved with narrow streets on a grid. Plenty of opportunity for June's retail therapy here.
Today we drove to Charleston via Hilton Head. Not an inspiring trip and traffic like the Geelong Road. Hilton Head is a big resort/time share area with large low rise shopping malls and golf courses abounding. All this has been developed on what was low-lying, swampy ground, but done in an attractive and uniform way. A highlight was finding a small restaurant/wine merchant run by Canadians. Brilliant selection of wine including dispensing machines like Queenstown NZ.
