We left Panzano this morning, after an enjoyable week in the lovely apartment.
First stop was the markets in Greve, where we did much wandering but little buying. I finally purchased an Italian leather belt. Then we headed to Citta di Castelli where we had lunch in a pizzeria off a side street, after walking around the old part of the city. We are continually amazed as how old parts of these towns are, and how people just live in such beautiful places.
Our next apartment, agiturismo Ospitaletto49 in a little village called Bivio Canoscio (near Trestina), was the accommodation I was most worried about. I had trouble paying the deposit through bank transfer, the emails I received seemed a little brusque, and it was expensive to have Carmen and Pete here for three nights.
What a lovely surprise when we arrived. Valerio and Teresa were waiting for us, with the fire burning cheerily in the fireplace. The apartment is lovely, well appointed, there was a lovely hamper of food, and there were supplies n the fridge. To top it off, our hosts were extremely friendly, and even had Sally, our contact, call in to make sure that everything was okay.
After unpacking we drove into Trestina and bought a few supplies so that Pete could make beef stroganoff for dinner. We played cards while Pete cooked – very civilized.
