Hello Folks

Here we are in Boston after arriving late on Saturday afternoon from Buffalo.  (Sorry Glenn.  Buffalo Wings are still a mystery to me.  We were only at the airport, but I did take a photo of a "bear" or something in Times Square advertising wings.)

This part of Boston at least is very unique, with its distinctive houses, all being two or three stories high.  But more about that next time.  This episode I wanted to tell you about the meeting we enjoyed on Sunday afternoon.  The congregation was Jamacia Plain,  in the suburb of the same name about a 15 min walk from our accommodation, which is 10 km southwest from Boston CBD.

Outside we were greeted by a couple of brothers, one younger named Brent and one older brother, both African Americans.  I introduced myself as John (what else?) And he said "what was that again?"  I said John.  He asked again and I said this time "Jaahn". That was the clue!  "Hi Jaahn, welcome to Jamacia Plain."  So in future it will be "Jaahn".

Inside we were again greeted by a brother who conducted the WT study Dan Sadaris and Marjorie, a very black sister with the whitest of broad smiles.  After a few more introductions including Dan's wife Carrie (they told us they were going to Zimbabwe for the regional convention in August) the meeting started.

The talk was entitled "The Curing of the Nations".  The speaker was in a wheelchair and it appeared that he had just limited use of his right arm and hand.  The talk was about how Jehovah would heal his people spiritually and ultimately  physically in the earthly paradise under the rulership of God's Kingdom. During the course of the talk he mentioned briefly that people like him were looking forward to the fulfillment of Rev 21:4.  Before coming into the truth he was shot in the neck by his stepfather in the late 70's, and became paralyzed. It helped us to see that if he could do what he does in his situation, then it should not be as difficult for us to serve Jehovah as he wants us to. One of his comments about the ransom sacrifice was "the premium has been paid for our insurance cover". Another one: In the paradise a young person asks "What was a hospital?" "Well thats where you could stay as long as your health insurance held out!"  You could imagine the smiles  of the audience as he said this in his African American accent. After the meeting quite a few came up and introduced themselves.  We gave out a few of our Tassie bookmarks.

Brendan and Roni started home before us, and we were offered a ride (maybe they took pity on us oldies!)  The brother told us that he is into ham wireless (sorry - radio), and that he speaks to Don MacLean from time to time. We asked him  to pass on our greetings to Don when he was in contact next.

The KHall there is just a few years old.Two English congregations meet there, and one Spanish.  We met a couple of families who were going to New Jersey for the Spanish sessions of the international convention. There are two circuit overseer apartments upstairs, currently for the English and also the Spanish COs.

So it was a pleasant time all up.  We really appreciated experiencing a taste of our international Christian brotherhood.  We were in comforting and familiar surroundings at the Kingdom Hall with our spiritual brothers and sisters, and enjoyed sharing in the same information as you did at your Sunday meeting.   Trust that you will enjoy having a look at these pics.

Warmest greetings

John and Helen

Jenny & Randy on

The first time I say the African American brothers and sisters at the meeting I couldn't stop staring. They were sooooo glamorous and all looked like film stars to me. They just seemed to glow & gave such impressive answers. Braiden and Jamin were looking at them with their mouths instead of concentrating n the meeting open-too beautiful

OOPs sorry about the spelling. Sorry Ronnie and Brendan, you may be considered good looking back here in Aussieland but compared to those sisters....well what can I say.

I really enjoyed this entry Brother Jaahn- that part made me and others laugh!!
To be with our brothers is really like a home away from home isn't it.
