A couple of months ago I shared with Robin my dream to "hit the road" without the encumbrances of time, commitment, money, etc. for an undetermined length of time and just explore this beautiful country. She immediately said, "If it's important to you, why don't you do it?" Wow! That's support.
I began to hatch a plan. It immediately became obvious to me that being unabashedly spontaneous was not really who I am and would be inconsiderate of my wife and other commitments
On Monday, March 28th, I set out on my 2011 Harley-Davidson Road Glide Ultra, equipped with every gadget I could find that would help to ensure my safe, comfortable and informed travel. The accompanying photo was taken by Robin in our garage just before my departure.
The past three days on the road have been focused on outrunning the weather and "getting into the groove". There have been many beautiful sights along the way; the South's colorful spring flowers, bright green grassy meadows and rolling hills and intriguing homes of all kinds. Even so, I have not taken the time to double back and capture the images on "film". Why? Making time and the difficulty of finding a safe vantage point on two lane roads with no shoulders will have to suffice as my excuses. I promise to do better as the opportunities present themselves..................
