Punta Gorda (pop 6,000) is yet another southern Belizean fishing village. Tranquil and quiet, the town is in many ways the mirror image of Corozal to the north, a reciprocol village slanting toward the sea, blown by the Caribbean breeze, forged of monochromatic concrete buildings of green and blue.
The town´s greatest appeal is it´s border crossing - travelers can get their passports stamped and hire a boat to enter Guatemala by sea via Livingston, which sits about 1 hour to the south. Other than the pleasant boat ride, Punta Gorda is quite sleepy and makes the travelogue mainly to get a pin on the map.
