Took it a bit easier today.  Did some laundry down in the basement, our hosts have been very accommodating.  They live on the first floor of this 3 floor house; there is a rental unit on the second floor and we are on the 3rd floor,  Our landlord/lady are with the local symphony; the wife is an opera singer with the local opera house and the husband is a first violinist with the symphony.  Kinda neat having an opera singer as your "landlady".  Anyway, they have been gracious and we have enjoyed our stay here.  Still have 2 more nights here.
Today we visited a "Time Travel" museum back to the days of East Germany.  Very interesting museum of 4 floors packed with everything imaginable from the DDR days from lawnmowers to automobiles, all types of consumer goods, furniture, appliances, you name it.  They had rooms set up like food markets, houses, schoolrooms, offices, machine shops, etc.
Afterward we browsed a bit in a large shopping centre with a huge supermarket which is always fun to find edibles.  We have some good rolls, smoked cheese and sliced proscutto type ham for our sack lunches tomorrow as we are hoping to do some hiking in the Saxon National Forest which has huge sandstone formations and looks like a fun place to explore some nature.  Hopefully it will be a bit nicer out than today which was very dreary and on the cold side, maybe 50 degrees F out (if that)
We  also purchased gasoline for the first time since we got our rental car; after doing all the conversions of currency and metric to US imperial I figure we paid about $7.45/gallon and got about 37 miles to the gallon.  Oh well, it's convenient transportation anyway.  You can still pump gas first and then pay which is kind of interesting....

Just arrived in hell not too long ago and it sure is nice to read your blog while burning here.
Wow, the street you are living on is just lovely. I like the machine. It has some contraptions inside of it so I wonder if it cleans clothes better than the one we have... things to ponder for the day.

Enjoy.
