We arrived in Prague yesterday via the train from Berlin. The weather continues to be beautiful although it's forecast to possibly rain tomorrow. Prague is a spectacular city with a gorgeous old town middle. Great mix of architecture. As always, a lot to see. We are also fortunate to have arrived during the Easter market season with boths of food, crafts and entertainment to enjoy. We are staying in the Old Town section and have a nice two floor apartment that is a small cottage within a courtyard in a larger old apartment building. And yes, it has its own washer in the bathroom...
Prague has a mix of visitors and you hear all languages being spoken. The Czech language seems incompreesible to me; I know only a few words like "please", "thanks", "hello", "dark beer"; the important stuff. My German was good enough that in Germany I could read billboards and other ads, stuff in supermarkets, menus, etc but here I am totally lost. Walking past a bookstore that displayed children's books, I could not even guess what the titles were. However, the staff people in the tourist places speak English and apparently many other languages. We ate our first meal on a dock side boat (permenantly anchored) and I heard he waitress speaking English, Italian, Czech and who knows what else. It was an Italian restaurant and very good too! Beer here is excellent and the food we have eaten has been very good as well.
