Where I stayed
We arrived in Tel Aviv out of Atlanta about 20 minutes early and breezed through customs - almost. Our last person through, Dawn Covington, was detained for about 80 minutes while the authorities asked her some security questions. We are never sure what triggers their security concerns, but I had briefed her just to answer their questions and not take it personally. She did that and was eventually released, while everyone waited on the bus outside the airport.
We met our guide, David Goldberg, who works for our tour company Sar-El. It's been a few years since I worked with this group and the good news is that they are Christian-owned and operated! Once we had everyone on the bus, we took a short 25-minute drive to the Dan Panorama Hotel in Tel Aviv for the night. Most people went for a walk on the beach tonight to see the Mediterranean Sea. Our wake up call is 6 AM tomorrow, with breakfast at 7 AM and hitting the road north toward Galilee at 8 AM. Tomorrow we should stop at Caesarea, Megiddo, Nazareth, and then Tiberias, where we will stay the next three nights.
Our flight over was pretty uneventful, except that we had ten young children in our section of the plane. One child wailed for what seemed like hours but most of us had iPods or ear plugs to help cut down the commotion.
I have no pictures today, but will have some for you tomorrow. Now it's time to sleep, hopefully through the night. Will be back at you tomorrow.
