The weather's gone. Everyday is bright and sunny with cloudless skies, yet somehow it's about 9 degrees Celsius. I thought I was going to freeze to death wandering around, looking for another bar at 5 am one night. I Definitely need to invest in a scarf pretty soon.
I liked Budapest. The city itself was unbelievably beautiful. It didn't matter where you went, the buildings were fantastic - all covered with little sculptures and decorations. Along with almost everyone I met, I hadn't realized until just a few weeks ago that Budapest was actually two cities, Buda and Pest. The view from the hills in Buda was well worth the sketchy walk through the pitch black forest.
The city does an excellent job of robbing you blind. The conversion to Canadian dollars is a pain (approximately $1 = 188 Fr) and everything seems pretty cheap. Then you open your wallet and discover that all your money has vanished. Oh well, it's only going to get worse as I head back towards Western Europe. I wonder what the going rate for a male stripper is.
Lara turned up here, so we got to play for a day. Spent my last morning in Budapest just chilling in some thermal baths. Although the one's inside were opaque and greenish, with a smell similar to compost that has been subjected to a downpour and then cooked in the sun for a week, the pools outside were unbeatable. I would have spent the whole day there. To bad the Eurorail pass is holding the leash and pulling me along...
