WE rented a small, one bedroom apartment in downtown RSJ.  It was a perfect location, very close to the bank, an internet cafe and supermercado.  Colmadas are just about every two doors apart, which are just small markets to buy vegies, fruits and other grocery items.  Our water supplier was 2 doors from our apartment, which was located above a refridgeration suppllier.  It had an iron gate at the entrance and we has 4 or 5 different neighbors during our stay, because the apartments are so small, it's more like a hotel.  Ours was suppposed to have electricity and hot water, and cable tv.  Well, we had consistant cable, but the other two were hit and miss.  We paid $360 US dollars per month for our apartment, which is a very good deal, however, there are other better deals in town.  I think ours was on the high end because of the location, however, it really only takes 10-15 minutes to walk accross town, so while it was very convenient, I would opt for less money, more bang for the buck and a quieter spot next time.  Moto conchos run practically all night long and it seems as if the town is on party time 24/7.  Advertisers blare their commercials and sales all day and night, in huge speakers sitting int he back of small, two whell drive trucks.  It took some getting used to, but after a couple of weeks, we could sleep right through it.
